On April 22, 2024, UnitedHealth Group issued a press release, providing an update on the Change Healthcare cybersecurity incident that occurred on Feb. 21, 2024. Given the size of the data impacted, the investigation to determine whose data is impacted is expected to take several months. UnitedHealth Group believes this situation will impact “a substantial proportion of people in America” and is offering immediate credit monitoring and identity protection services, as well as a dedicated contact center to address questions. In South Carolina, WellCare and Absolute Total Care are bringing our health plans together to better serve our members, providers, partners, and communities. Beginning April 1, 2021, WellCare of South Carolina Medicaid members will transition to Absolute Total Care. Until then, you should continue to treat members from each health plan as you do under your current contract(s). Your existing provider support channels will remain in place. Your patients’ current member ID cards will remain valid as well.

Members can expect very few changes to the benefits and services they currently receive with WellCare of South Carolina and they do not need to do anything to continue their Medicaid coverage with Absolute Total Care. Members will receive a new member ID card from Absolute Total Care as well as a new member welcome packet.
