Effective March 1, 2012, Absolute Total Care will discontinue the adult dental benefit which covers adult members ages 21 and older. The last day of coverage for the adult dental benefit will be Wednesday, February 29, 2012. This change will not affect any other Medicaid benefits. Members will continue to receive their other Medicaid benefits as usual. Please contact our Member Services department at 1-866-433-6041 with any questions about this change.

Effective January 1, 2011, CentAccount funds cannot be used to buy over-the-counter medicines without a prescription. This change is being made as a part of the federal government’s Affordable Care Act. If you have any questions, please call Member Services at 1-866-433-6041 (TTY 1-866-912-3609).

As of October 1, 2010, the South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (SCDHHS) has terminated its Healthy Connections Kids (HCK) program. All HCK members have been transferred to SC Healthy Connections (SCHC) and are now receiving Medicaid benefits.

Absolute Total Care members in the HCK program have been automatically placed into the Medicaid program, requiring no action on their behalf. Providers previously serving our HCK members were also not required to take any action to continue as a participating provider.

However, Absolute Total Care is not approved for Medicaid in Abbeville County. HCK members in that county have been enrolled with another plan that is approved by SCDHHS.

New cards from both SC Healthy Connections and Absolute Total Care have been issued to members affected by this change. These cards should be presented at all office visits. These cards show that members are now covered under Medicaid.

Absolute Total Care has important news about our Healthy Connections Kids (HCK) program. As of October 1, 2010, the Healthy Connections Kids will terminate. The HCK member will be transferred to SC Healthy Connections (SCHC), also known as Medicaid. Members will receive the same benefits that SCHC (Medicaid) members currently receive.

Our goal is to ensure that all Absolute Total Care members continue to receive excellent, uninterrupted care when the change becomes effective. We are focused on making sure that our providers do not experience any disruption to their current membership or to the service they provide for Absolute Total Care members.

Special Message for Our HCK Members:

As a member of Absolute Total Care’s HCK program, you will not have to take any action to keep your benefits. You will continue to be part of the Absolute Total Care plan after the change takes place and will receive new ID cards from both SC Healthy Connections and Absolute Total Care. Please make sure that you take both cards to your doctor visits.

However, Absolute Total Care is not approved for Medicaid in Abbeville County. Members in Abbeville County will be enrolled in an approved health plan by SCDHHS effective  October 1, 2010.

On June 1, 2010, Absolute Total Care, Inc. purchased Carolina Crescent Health Plan’s South Carolina Healthy Connections and South Carolina Healthy Connections Kids lines of business. Carolina Crescent members were automatically transferred to Absolute Total Care and were not required to take any action to keep their coverage, and new ID cards and new member packets from Absolute Total Care are being issued to each transferring member.Carolina Crescent members that do not wish to stay in Absolute Total Care’s Healthy Connections or Healthy Connections Kids programs may select another health plan within their area. To select another health plan, members must contact South Carolina Healthy Connections Choices (SCHCC) at 1-877-552-4642 during the choice period beginning June 1, 2010 through August 18, 2010.
